Weekly Activity Day3 by Ashleigh

Handball is a fiercely contested, they need tactical, skilful and with goals galore, handball is an exciting spectacle. Field handball made its Olympic debut at the Berlin 1936 Games, but the sport has been played indoors since Munich 1972. There are men’s and women’s events. This is the short video of Handball in Olympic game link

  1. Hi Ashleigh,

It is great to see that you have decided to blog about such an interesting sport, European handball. It is not one of the better known sports so it's great to see that you were able to learn about and then post both a video and a description of it for us. Thanks!

From watching the video of a men's match from the 2008 Beijing Olympics, it is clear to me that the games are quite fast-paced and high scoring. I couldn't believe it when I glanced up at the scoreboard on the screen and saw that it was 24-22 and the game was still going. Wow!

Do you have any personal experience with handball? Have you ever watched it on TV or seen it in person prior to completing this activity? After learning about it I really want to go out now and see it played live! I wonder if there is a professional handball league in New Zealand...

Thanks again for your interesting and informative post, Ashleigh. Keep up the great work!

    Cheers, Rachel :)
