Ashleigh's postcard for Reaching Ray's Rock

Reaching Ray's Rock  by Helen O’Carroll School Journal P4 N3 2005

WALHT: Empathise with a character in a story.
Learning Progression: Connecting - I can make connections within and across a wide-range of texts e.g. empathise with characters in situations, predict possible outcomes
Visualising - I use key words, and descriptive phrases to imagine characters, settings and actions in novels
Success Criteria: Empathise with the character by considering their feelings  based on the details of the text and the description of the track. Creating a reflection postcard/letter from one character to another from the text.

  1. HI Ashleigh, Your postcard shows you have been able to reflect on Ray's desire to climb the mountain, it would have been good to talk about the struggles that he faced that you have shown in your graph of his feelings. Why did he feel so scared/worried throughout the middle of the story, then happy, then unsure? The more detail the better :)
I do like your postcard design!

  2. Hi Ashleigh,

I really liked your blog post about your postcard, pretending to be Dean.

I was just wondering, why was he so scared in the middle of the book story! Did something happen?

I haven't read this story before.

    Thank you!

  4. Hi Nicola, Dean was very scared because the weather was very bad, and the winds grow stronger and stronger.
